San Bernardino is divided into three regions: Northwest San Bernardino, Southeast San Bernardino and Southwest San Bernardino. It has numerous neighborhoods, including Del Rosa, Downtown San Bernardino, H Street (known for its numerous nightclubs), Loma Linda (a historic planned community surrounding Loma Linda University), Muscoy, Upland and Victoria Gardens.

Northwest San Bernardino is the heart of the city, though it often refers to all areas north of Banyan Street. The area centers on the downtown area, extending to the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains. This region contains attractions such as the California Theatre, museums and performing arts venues, 9 Square (a shopping complex fashioned after downtown Milan) and Rialto Theater in Downtown San Bernardino featuring Broadway performances.

There are many points of interest including Hospitality Lane in Hospitality Lane, the IMAX Theater and nearby convention center. Northwest San Bernardino is also home to most of the city's large office building complexes with the exception of the southern part of the region which is home to Qualcomm Stadium and some surrounding development.

Southwest San Bernardino is home to many residential neighborhoods such as Woodlyn Lane, Victoria Gardens and Highland Avenue for residential areas. West of Interstate 215 is a new master-planned community called Battery Park in the City of San Bernardino. The community features several parks, including one that offers camping and fishing in addition to hiking and biking trails with access to the Santa Ana River Trail.
